I’m Kerry, a British wedding photographer living near Pézenas in the South of France. I photograph weddings across Languedoc, including Hérault, Aude and Gard, for couples who want honest photographs of the celebration alongside polished portraits.
Most of the day is photographed quietly as it unfolds. I give clear direction when it will help, keep family photographs organised and make couple portraits brief. You can enjoy the wedding you planned while I preserve how it looked, who was there and what it felt like.
What does Languedoc mean today?
Languedoc is still a familiar and useful name when people search for a wedding venue or photographer in southern France, but it is no longer the name of an administrative region. In 2016, the former Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées regions joined to form Occitanie. The Occitanie Regional Council explains the change here.
For wedding planning, Languedoc usually means the Mediterranean side of Occitanie. It includes places couples often know by name, such as Montpellier, Pézenas, Béziers, Narbonne, Carcassonne and Nîmes, together with the vineyards, villages and countryside around them.

Wedding photographs that feel full of life
A wedding is a social event. The photographs should show more than the venue and table settings. I am watching for reactions during the ceremony, the people trying not to cry, children doing something unexpected, the laughter before a speech has reached its punchline and the exchanges happening around the edges of the obvious moments.
Documentary photography does not mean standing back and hoping something happens. It requires anticipation, strong composition and an understanding of people. I work close enough to make photographs with feeling, but I do not keep stopping real moments to recreate them for the camera.
I also believe portraits matter. When direction is useful, I give it calmly and clearly. Couple portraits usually take 5 to 15 minutes at a time, often with another short opportunity when the evening light changes. You receive romantic, carefully made portraits without losing an hour of the drinks reception.
Working with the Languedoc light
The light here can be beautiful, but it is not always gentle. Summer ceremonies often happen while the sun is high, pale stone reflects light and shaded doorways become very dark. Later, the heat eases and the landscape changes quickly as the sun drops.
Living and working here helps me anticipate those changes. I can advise on ceremony direction, shade and portrait timing, while keeping the wedding itself at the centre of the plan.
A small adjustment can make a real difference. Moving the family photographs into open shade, turning a ceremony slightly or allowing ten minutes for portraits later in the evening can improve the photographs without reorganising the day around them.
Where I photograph weddings in Languedoc
I am based near Pézenas in Hérault, with much of my work around Béziers, Montpellier and the surrounding vineyard estates. I also photograph weddings west into Aude, including Narbonne and Carcassonne, and east into Gard around Nîmes and Sommières.

Wedding venues in Languedoc
Languedoc has an unusually varied collection of venues. There are working wine estates, restored châteaux, old abbeys, rural domaines, private houses and boutique properties where guests can stay together for an entire wedding weekend.
A venue affects more than the appearance of the photographs. It determines how people move through the day, how much shade is available, whether travel is needed and what happens if the weather changes. Planning a Languedoc wedding from abroad
Many of the couples I work with live in the UK, Ireland, the United States or elsewhere overseas. I am British, live in Hérault and am fully registered to work professionally in France. Contracts, family circumstances and timing decisions can all be discussed clearly in English.
You do not need to arrive with a finished photography schedule. Once I understand the venue, guest numbers and shape of the day, I can help with the parts of the plan that affect the photographs. This may include travel between locations, ceremony light, family groups, sunset and the realistic timing of dinner and speeches.
My job is not to redesign the wedding for the camera. It is to identify practical problems early, then photograph the celebration calmly when it happens.

How long do couple portraits take?
I normally photograph portraits for 5 to 15 minutes at a time. We may take a few photographs after the ceremony, then step outside briefly again when the evening light changes. This gives you variety without taking you away from your guests for a long session.
Do you photograph intimate weddings and elopements?
Yes. I photograph small weddings and elopements throughout Languedoc and the wider South of France. Coverage can be shaped around the ceremony, portraits and time with your closest family and friends.
Can we see a complete wedding gallery?
Yes. A portfolio shows selected photographs, but a complete gallery is the best way to judge consistency across preparations, ceremony light, family groups, speeches and the evening. I am happy to show you a relevant recent wedding privately.
