Wedding Photographer Arles – Maeve & James at Chateau de Vergieres
When Maeve and James first contacted me about their plans for their wedding at Chateau de Vergieres I knew it was going to be a fun and relaxed day. An Irish meets English wedding in the beautiful french countryside outside Arles. The chateau was faded and old but very charming and typical of a lot of chateaus in the area. The couple had used of the large open sided barn which was handy, as it rained! Not what you want when you get married in France but it happens! Luckily it did not impact on the day too much.
The ceremony took place in the large barn. The couple had a handfasting and their friends were invited up to wrap the couple’s hands in ribbons. Each ribbon had a different meaning. It’s an old tradition and that’s where the expression “tying the knot” comes from.
After the ceremony the guests lined up to shower the couple with lavender, a nice alternative to confetti. Then it was onto the vin d’honneur (drinks reception). There was a covered area next to the courtyard where cocktails were served. The guests were also treated to hot canapes and fresh meats and seafood cooked “ala plancha”.
Towards the end of the drinks reception, I spent ten minutes shooting some images of Maeve and James. The rain had stopped! I used the pretty buildings and the impressive driveway for their pictures.
Here are some of my favourite images of the day..
Congratulations Maeve and James! What an amazing day!
