A documentary photographer with a portraitist’s eye
I’m Kerry, a British wedding photographer living near Pézenas in Hérault. I photograph weddings and elopements across Occitanie, Provence and the wider South of France.
My work combines natural documentary coverage with polished, classical portraiture. For most of the day I watch, anticipate and photograph what happens without interrupting it. When a portrait needs shaping or a family group needs organising, I give clear direction and get it done efficiently.
I do not expect anyone to know how to pose or feel comfortable in front of a camera. That is my responsibility. Couple portraits usually happen in short bursts of 5 to 15 minutes, so you can have beautiful photographs without losing an hour of your wedding.

The whole day matters
I am interested in more than the obvious moments. The people waiting outside the ceremony, a parent trying to hold it together, children under tables, wind catching a veil, the noise when everyone reaches the dance floor. Those photographs often become the ones that bring the day back most clearly.
Good documentary photography is not passive. It relies on understanding people, recognising when something is about to happen and being in the right place before it does. Composition and light still matter, even when the moment lasts less than a second.
My aim is to give you a complete, coherent record of the wedding, not a collection of unrelated highlights. The photographs should show how the celebration looked, who was there and what it felt like to be part of it. My real wedding stories show complete celebrations from across the region.
Photography has been my working life since 2000
I studied Fine Art Photography at Bournemouth College of Art and Design before beginning my career in London. Since then, I have photographed weddings across Europe, Asia, North America and Central Asia. I later taught visual storytelling and wrote A Guide to Wedding Photojournalism.
I have judged the UK Wedding Industry Awards, appeared on Channel 4’s Escape to the Chateau, and my work has appeared in publications including Tatler, You & Your Wedding, The London Evening Standard and New York Brides.
Experience is most useful when the plan changes. A late ceremony, difficult light, sudden rain or a nervous room should not become your problem. My job is to stay calm, adapt quickly and keep looking for the photographs.
Based here, with local knowledge
I moved to the South of France in 2016 and now live near Pézenas. I am fully registered to work professionally in France and regularly photograph weddings at châteaux, domaines, abbeys, vineyards, villas and private homes.
Living here has taught me the practical details that can shape a wedding day. Summer sun is strong, shade moves quickly, the light changes fast before sunset and journeys that look short on a map can take longer than expected. I can help you plan photography around those realities without turning it into the centre of the schedule.
Most of my couples plan from the UK, Ireland, the United States or elsewhere. Everything can be discussed clearly in English, from timings and family photographs to contracts and the parts of the day that matter most to you.
I work throughout Occitanie and Provence, with much of my work close to Pézenas, Montpellier and Béziers. My South of France wedding venue guide includes places I know personally and have photographed.
Who I work best with
I work best with couples who care deeply about their photographs but do not want photography to dominate the wedding. They value real moments and thoughtful composition. They also want someone who can take charge of the organised photographs calmly, then blend back into the celebration.
You do not need to love being photographed. You do not need a long shot list or a performance for the camera. It helps if you want to spend the day with your guests, trust me to notice what matters and leave enough space for unplanned things to happen.

A little more about me
When I am not photographing weddings, I am usually making my own fine art work, walking in the hills, at the beach or looking for interesting objects in brocantes.
I like early mornings, old French villages, dry British humour and people who do not take themselves too seriously. I am drawn to photographs that feel honest and unforced, but are still carefully observed and beautifully made.
I also offer relaxed family photography in the South of France for people who live here or are visiting the region.
