Union Club Wedding – Helen & Tom
Union Club Wedding – Wedding Photographer London – Helen & Tom
When Helen called me up and asked me to shoot her and Tom’s Union Club wedding I had two thoughts. The first thought was Wow! how cool Helen and Tom are getting married and the second thought was “Oh dear God”. Now I don’t usually react like this to the idea of shooting someone’s wedding but when those someone’s are one of the UK’s finest children’s portrait photographers, Helen Bartlett and the amazingly talented wedding photographer/software entrepreneur Tom Catchesides, it’s a normal reaction! When a friend asks you to shoot their day, you some how feel more pressure to make sure you do your very best for them and even more pressure when you know they know good photography! Eeek!
As Helen and Tom’s Union Club wedding approached, I started dreaming things like, leaving my cards at home, arriving at the wrong address and my all my cameras going wrong. I knew I wasn’t going to get much sleep the night before. Thoughts of the next day ran through my head like a steam train. Sleep wasn’t easy. But like with all weddings, I awoke full of nerves but the minute I start looking through my camera and seeing images, I some how relaxed.
I also had the pleasure of shooting alongside my very good friend Iain Bain. Iain is an exceptional shooter, one of those people that has a natural eye and a wonderful vision. We had so much fun working with each other. Iain is a very chilled out fella and showed no signs of nerves! I was glad he was there as a calming influence!
I’ve split their Union Club wedding into two posts because of the number of wedding pictures I wanted to share. The day started at Helen and Tom’s house where they were both getting ready…
