Provence wedding – Wedding at Le clos saint Estève
Part 2 of Alasdair’s and Victoria’s Provence wedding photography. After the beautiful outdoor ceremony at Le clos saint Estève. The guests were treated to a relaxed drinks reception drenched in warm sunshine. Drinks were served in the adjoining bar area while canapes were passed around.
Wow, it was hot! There was very little shade. This can sometimes be problematic when shooting outside. You often hear about photographers preferring shade. I think it’s because shade is a consistent and even place to shoot. But without any, I wanted to shoot directly into the sun. Doing this puts everyone in flattering light (guests are blinking and struggling to see!) and the sun creates a halo behind people. So for their Provence wedding photography, while I was shooting the groups I borrowed the incredibly talented Jason Bevan head tailor at Clements & Church! He made the guys chinos and he was kind enough to shelter me and my camera from the suns rays with a parasol. This gave me the most perfect screen to block the flare that would of ruined the picture. I loved shooting the groups by the pool in a relaxed, elegant way.
Before dinner, Victoria, Alasdair went for a 15 minute stroll to capture a few images of the two of them. I had walked around earlier in the day and thought the pretty apple orchard and winding road next to Le clos saint Estève. would be a lovely place and the light would be just right. It was perfect by the time was got there.
Here are some of my favourites from their Provence wedding photography…
Victoria’s father was really ill on the day of the wedding. So her Mum stepped in to give his speech. She did an amazing job.
