Cliveden House Wedding – The Winter Wedding of Jessica & William
Wooo hooo! Been dying to share this Cliveden House Wedding!! I shot Jessica’s sisters wedding a few years ago and it was great to see their family again. (see Becca’s wedding – Hedsor House Wedding) I love it when I get to see old clients again. Rebecca and Carl had a beautiful addition to the family – the cutest little boy you ever did see! (Freddie features a lot in this post!!)I was working with the amazing wedding planner Isabel Smith again. We work so well together and I know if Isabel is on the case, it’ll all go OK. She is really experienced and a lovely, lovely person.
The day started with photographing the bridal preparations at Cliveden House. All the girls were getting ready together and you could feel the excitement in the room. Then it was off to the family church in Princes Risborough. The guys were busy handing out orders of service and showing the guests to their seats. Before we knew where we were Jess had arrived. The ceremony was beautiful and the couple left grinning from ear to ear.
It’s been awhile since I’ve shot a Cliveden House Wedding. I love the venue. Set in the Berkshire countryside, with rolling grounds and expansive rooms filled with beautiful antiques, it’s pure decadence. Shooting there in winter is a tough challenge. The walls of the Great Hall are high and dark – this means it’s almost impossible to bounce flash off of them. There are a few lamps dotted around but by and large it’s a very, very dark space to shoot in. I had my good friend Guy Hearn second shooting with me on this wedding and we both commented on the darkness of the venue – if someone little experience had tried to shoot here, they might well be in big trouble. Thankfully both Guy and I have shot hundreds of weddings and are used to having curveballs thrown at us! Guy shot at a high iso and used primes and I stuck close to the wall and bounced my flash on about 1/4 power. Both worked well.
I really enjoyed shooting Jessica’s and William’s day and here are some of the favourites from their Cliveden House Wedding…

Freddie! How cute are the converse.

Isabele helps with the tie.

The staff made sure the room looked perfect.
