Claridges Wedding Photographer – Cyndi & Craig’s beautiful day
When Craig first asked me to be their Claridges Wedding Photographer I was super excited. I love shooting at Claridge’s. It’s a very famous London hotel but for me, it has a big edge on all the others. You feel it from the moment you are met at the door. The staff greet you like an old friend and not just another guest. The classic art deco design sweeps through the entire hotel but it’s the little features I love so much. Where else can you find a sofa in an lift? It has a timeless elegance. As you walk through the hotel you can’t help but wonder how many movie stars, politicians and royals have graced the same floors. The places breathes history in the most exquisite way. It was no wonder Craig and Cyndi chose this has their wedding venue.
Craig told me he wanted a relaxed dinner party feel, he is a lover of photography and liked my natural style of shooting. I knew it was going to be a fantastic day to shoot. My kind of event. Just lots of close friends and family having a fabulous time.
My day started as their Claridges Wedding Photographer with Cyndi’s preparations in the Penthouse Suite. She was getting ready with her children – all of whom were totally charming. I had a fab time shooting this section of the day (the light in the suite is fantastic). The wedding ceremony was made even more special for me because the registrars were so great. They said there was absolutely no restrictions at all on what I could do. Why can’t they all be like Westminster!
Claridges have quite a strict policy of no shooting in their public areas (to protect the privacy of their other guests), so the wonderful event manager Nick guided me through the hotel to all the spots he thought I might like to make portraits. I actually started outside, the light was fading and I wanted them to have some images with the facade of the hotel. It was pouring with rain and I look a bit of a fright by the time I’d finished! They were perfectly dry under the canopy of Claridge’s. I used the pretty chandeliers as a backdrop, I liked the light in the main entrance hall. The candles on the floor also made for a great spot and lastly the stunning ballroom was perfect for a few groups.
Instead of speeches, the couple decided to speak about their guests. This made for quite an entertaining evening – with lots of fascinating and funny stories of time well spent together.
What I always hope to achieve when shooting a wedding is to give the couple back their day. It goes so fast. I hope that my clients can relive the day though my pictures. There are far too many to show here but here are some of my favourite Claridge’s wedding photos…
