I love a Beach Wedding! I think because I am a great sun lover and hate being cold, beach weddings really speak to me. I lived by the beach for three years while I studied photography in Bournemouth and it is a place dear to my heart. I’m lucky enough to have shot quite a few beach weddings both here in the UK and further afield. Locally, I’m about 40 minutes away from Whitstable, home to such great venues as the beach side East Quay with it’s delicious lobster shack restaurant and The Artists Beach House.
About an hour from me is the delightful town of Rye. A favourite of mine for weddings and just for days out. Two of my favourite places to shoot are The George in Rye and also The Gallivant, which is stunning and just across the road from Camber sands. The food is exceptional and last time I was there, they set up an oyster bar for the guests. I spent many a weekend as a child of that beach. It’s the perfect spot for photos on the beach. That just has to be done at any beach wedding.
Further afield, I’ve shot at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Another fab venue! I had a ball last time I was there. So many spots for pictures and full of history, I really was spoilt for choice.
Another real favourite was down at the stunning sandbanks to the Harbour Heights hotel – spectacular views from the modern terrace. Just a five minute car ride and you are on the sand.
But top of the tree and by far the best beach wedding I have ever shot was Railay Beach in Thailand at the stunning Rayavadee Resort. A week of shooting in this place was pure heaven to me! Have a look though many of the beach weddings I have shot and if you are having a beach wedding, do get in touch!
