I’ve shot Wedding Photography at St.Michael’s Manor Hotel before and love it as a venue.  It’s the perfect mix of relaxed modern charm and traditional comfort.  The grounds are pretty and have lots of scope for photography even in winter.

Don and Emma tied the knot in the bright conservatory in front of close friends and family.  I loved Emma’s pretty lace dress – perfect for her.  Don and Emma smiled the whole day long and were an absolute pleasure to photograph.  I loved how they fused their two cultures together to create something really meaningful for both of them.

I’ve photographed weddings at The George in Rye on many occasions and it’s no secret to readers of this blog that it’s one of my favourite venues to shoot, not just because the venue itself is stunning but also the incredible surroundings.  I was however, even more excited to shoot there this time when I heard of Louise’s and James’s plans to have some pictures taken on the nearby beach of Camber Sands.

Their wedding at The George in Rye was held in the gorgeous ballroom, it was the first time I’d shot a ceremony at the George (I’m usually up the hill in the town hall!) it was great to photograph – lovely light, lots of room and the registrar could not have been more helpful and accommodating.  The other fantastic benefit of holding the ceremony there was immediately following the wedding, we were able to use the space for group pictures.

I usually go for a walk around Rye with my couples when it comes to shooting some beautiful portraits of the two of them but had always longed to head down to the beach and take some pictures, it hadn’t been possible on previous occasions manly due to time.  But the photography was so important to Louise and James, they decided to set aside three quarters of an hour to drive to the beach, take some stunning pictures and then drive back to the party.  I was really looking forward it but also a little nervous – after all the couple’s wedding was just before Christmas and winter weddings are always noted for their sunshine!

We were so incredibly lucky and struck gold with the weather – there was not a cloud in the sky and it was very mild.  Louise did not even need a coat!  It was strange being on Camber Sands, being relatively local, I’d spent many a happy day as a child playing with a bucket and spade on that particular stretch.  What a fantastic location for a post wedding shoot.  The light was superb and Louise and James were brilliant to work with – they enjoyed the time on their own away from their guests and we had a lot of fun creating some very unique images.

We then rushed back to the party and I captured all the events in a completely unscripted way from then on.

My last wedding of the year was certainly one I won’t forget in hurry – Any wedding at The George in Rye is special but what made Louise’s and James’s so great was the trust they put in me to create something really different for them.

Catherine and Dom’s stunning Fulham Palace Wedding was something I’d been looking forward to and it certainly didn’t disappoint.  Not only was Catherine a truly gorgeous bride but her choices and attention to detail were superb.  I adored her Caroline Castigliano gown.

Winter weddings can be tough, it gets dark very early, it’s freezing cold and pictures often have to take place inside.  After the Catherine and Dom’s church ceremony, it was completely dark – so all of the pictures from that point were shot inside.  When shooting winter weddings it’s imperative for a photographer to have a good grasp of lighting techniques.

Shooting during darkness inside  also requires much more imagination than a beautiful summer day does.  Catherine had made a great decision in hiring the incredible  Effect Event who lit the whole palace beautifully.  I then balanced their colourful ambient lighting with my flash gun and played away.   I used a plain corridor to create a feeling of drama and concentrated on the lighting and the pose of the couple.  I hope you enjoy the results!

Once again, the caterers Bovingdon’s did a brilliant job – they really don’t ever fail to impress.

I shot Emma’s sister’s wedding in July and it was so fantastic to see the whole family again.  I was so impressed with Newick Park, it’s a beautiful venue and I’m really hoping I get the chance to shoot there again.  Often at winter weddings when guests must stay inside, its cramped and hot during the drinks reception but at Emma and Tom’s Newick Park Wedding there was plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy.

The couples ceremony was very moving and I felt honoured to be there.  Emma and Tom are such a lovely couple – it was so amazing to see them exchange vows and become husband and wife.

Emma’s attention to detail was fantastic and everything looked and ran wonderfully.

I loved – Emma’s dress and her pretty table plan.  The candle lit feel was perfect for her December wedding.

Susan and David’s stunning winter wedding was held at the  Our Lady Star of The Sea RC church in Greenwich.  It’s great location next to Greenwich park means it’s easy to pop into the park for a few pictures.

I was luckily enough to be allowed to shoot from the front of the church, we is always my favourite position – it’s great to be able to see the faces of the bride and groom and all their friends and family.  Their ceremony was really lovely.

Afterwards we went over the road to shoot some images in Greenwich Park, the yellow leaves made for a nice backdrop.  It was quite chilly, so we only stayed a few minutes before we all headed off to the couples reception at The Chiswell Street Dining Rooms 

 Susan and David’s friends and family were treated to champagne and canapes before sitting down to a wonderful wedding breakfast.  The guests then made their way to another room where a band played and they danced the night away.

Gemma and Neil’s Leez Priory wedding was bathed in the most gorgeous autumn sunshine.  It was unseasonably warm – which always helps when you’ve planned a winter wedding!

The day started with Gemma’s preparations at her parents house where Gemma got ready with her bridesmaids.  The girls wore the most stunning dark blue dresses.  It was then off to the church for the couples ceremony.  The light was fantastic all day and I had such a lot of fun shooting.

The wedding reception at Leez Priory was stunning.  I’ve shot wedding pictures at Leez Priory on lots of occasions and it was good to be back.  We made the most of the winter sunshine and wandered around the grounds for pictures.  I enjoyed using the combination of stunning colours and beautiful light in Gemma and Neil’s photographs.

Gemma looked amazing and I loved her lace jacket and soft pretty hair.  Gemma wore a yellow diamond necklace – a family heirloom and bought some stunning yellow diamond earrings to wear with it.

I have shot a few Barnsley House Weddings, it’s a stunning wedding venue sat in the heart of the Cotswold.  The gardens are full of little nooks and crannies to explore, making it a joy for wedding photography.  The light we had on Katy and Mark’s wedding day was exquisite – soft, low and golden.

I took so many pictures, I’ve split this blog post into two as I really did not want to miss out all Katy’s fantastic details.  Her autumnal theme was to die for and I can honestly say it was one of the most stunning marquees I’ve ever shot in.  It’s hard to be original as a bride but Katy certainly managed it.  I loved how her dress, with detailing of pretty leaves and flowers matched mimicked her styling for the rest of the wedding.  Choosing the season as her inspiration was a stroke of genius and made everything sit together really well.

I also wanted to try and use my photographs to compliment her theme, so chose backdrops accordingly.  For instance, when shooting her gorgeous Jimmy Choo shoes, I saw the shadow of leaves cast on a bamboo blind, her bridesmaids shoes were place in front of ivy and  I relied on the plants and flowers heavily in the couples portrait shoot.  I love how her pictures are all singing from the same hymn sheet.

As a Barnsley House Wedding Photographer, I’ve seen lots of very varied weddings.  Katy and Mark’s stunning autumn wedding was so full of details, I decided to spread it over two posts.

 I loved Katy’s wonderful ideas for the marquee, it was so fitting for her autumn wedding.  I chose to compliment her choices with my pictures by using her autumnal theme as my inspiration.  I loved the pretty soft light we had for the portraits in the garden at their Barnsley House Wedding.  I love to use back light where possible, it does give everything such a romantic look.

The amazing marquee had a cupcake stall, trees wrapped in brownpaper pots with leaves and fir cones scattered on the ground and Katy’s tables had all manner of autumn delights such as grasses, flowers and berry’s in jars as well as rosehip arrangements.  It really was a feast for the eyes at their Barnsley House Wedding.

At night the gardens at Barnsley House were lit up and it made for a wonderful walkway for guests to wonder back to the house and be entertained by the excellent band The Dukes of Havok.

It was the most unusual day for a Nonsuch Mansion Wedding, the beginning of October and 29 degrees!  Emma and Danny’s wedding day was the hottest October day on record.  The clear blue skies and wonderful sunshine put was such a welcome surprise.

I shoot lots of weddings at Nonsuch Mansion, I love the venue purely because there is so much scope with what you can shoot.  You need never run out of ideas as the inside and outside is so varied.  My day started with Emma’s preparations and continued on to the church where Emma and Danny also held an afternoon tea after their ceremony.

Guests of course were treated to the amazing Bovingdons catering – who always make sure everything runs like clockwork.  I really enjoyed shooting their day, they made some time for pictures at the mansion and everyone there was so happy, it made my job very easy!  The colours of autumn were fun to play around with and with the perfect sunshine to match, it was a joy!

Jen and John’s Buxted Park wedding was full of warmth and fun.  The day was typically autumnal, bright but with a bit of a nip in the air.

It was my first time shooting Buxted Park Wedding Photography it’s a lovely venue.  I like to grounds and the trees looked particularly pretty with their autumn leaves.

Jen father was the retired warden of the church they married in and this gave the whole ceremony a wonderfully personal feel.  I was lucky enough to be able to shoot from the choir – always a great place to be to capture the feeling and emotion between people.
