I made the five and a half hour journey to Portmeirion on the North Wales coast to shoot Alex and Paul’s wedding and boy was it worth it! It’s such an honour to be part of so many happy occasions and a privilege to shoot the most important times of people’s lives. What’s great about be involved is you get to know what’s special to other people and Portmeirion was extremely special to them. Alex had spent many a holiday in the quirky village and it had become part of her family history. Stories and tales of those happy times seemed to be weaved into the fabric of their wedding day and that was such a lovely thing to be a part of. If you ever have the opportunity to go to Portmeirion, go. It’s like nowhere else I’ve been – eccentric, charming, idiosyncratic, beautiful with a sense of adventure in the air. Around every corner is a surprise and as a photographer, there’s almost too much to capture!
I started the day at the house the family had spent many a happy holiday in, where Alex was getting ready.
Here are some favourites:

The girls wore dresses from Hobbs (available in lots of colours for those still looking!)

Married!

I’m not usually a fan of this style of group – I guess I’ve seen it too many times but here with the quirkyness of the boat, I think it really works well. What a backdrop!

I love the way Paul is looking at Alex in the shot

After dinner, Paul and Alex had built in a section of time into the schedule to walk around the village and the sands for pictures. It made so much difference having a bit more time to shoot – I must say, I wish more couples would do this, it was great! I could have posted so many more pictures here, the light was incredible and Paul and Alex were a pleasure to shoot.

The hotel where the wedding reception is behind them. The tide was out, so we could walk on the sand.

What amazing scenery they have in Wales!

Who would have thought this was Wales? It looks like Greece!

I love this picture!
Congratulations Alex & Paul! Enjoy the Maldives!
