Wedding Photography at Parklands, Essex – Jackie & John

A couple of weeks back I was at the wonderful Parklands in Essex.  I have shot more weddings at Parklands than any other venue.  The thing I love about shooting weddings at Parklands in Essex is its versatility.  As a wedding photographer, you have to be ready for any kind of weather or light.  On John & Jackie’s day the weather was pretty typical for November, quite cool and rainy.  The weather did not give us a break all day, it rained non-stop and it was really dark.  But it mattered not!  We were all perfectly happy inside and I still managed to get some lovely pictures despite the dark, wet conditions.  This is what makes shooting in winter so great, the cosy intimate feel, unique to this time of year.

Jackie got ready with her bridesmaids in the red room at the top of the house.  This is my favourite room in The Parklands Estate, those of you who follow this blog, will know how much I love to play with mirrors in pictures and Parklands has them in abundance.  It’s a grand room with loads of space to move around.  The girls were lots of fun and did a great job of keeping Jackie calm.

Here are some of my favourites!

Jackie told me she was really worried that she wouldn’t be photogenic or know what to do in the pictures.  I showed her this picture after I shot it, to reassure her that she looked great.  I love that she looks so relaxed and isn’t quite ready yet.   That’s the beauty of catching people unawares, they hopefully get to see what other people see when they look at them.

Jackie watches the rain while waiting for her bridesmaids to finish putting on their dresses, I think this is one of my favourites!

Jackie’s dress was incredible – and by my favourite designer Ian Stewart.  She joked that as she never really wore dresses, she would have never ordinarily picked something so girly and in fact had only tried it on for a laugh.  But once she had tried it on, had fallen in love with it – it was stunning on her.

Note all the girls in the background, armed with the hankies!

The interior group pictures were really helped by using bounced flash and this large sofa with additional chairs.

The back of the dress was just as stunning as the front!

This cute little girl really did not want her picture taken during the group pictures - let’s face it, the adults aren’t that keen either!  So I was happy to capture more of her personality later in the day with this shot.

It was great to be able to pull crackers during the wedding breakfast.  I’ve missed crackers!

John and Jackie make such a cute couple.

Congratulations John & Jackie!
