Kathryn and Joe got married at the pretty St Bertoline’s Church in the village of Barthomley near Crewe. Their reception was held at the stunning Crewe Hall.
It was the first time I’d shot at Crewe Hall. I travel all over the country to shoot weddings but this venue had always eluded me. I was excited to be shooting there at last.
The church could have proved difficult as the video guy and I were told to stand in the same place. There wasn’t really enough room for both of us, so I managed to persuade the minister to let me shoot from behind the choir. I was so glad I did as I could hide behind them and still get a good view. I did think one of choir was winking at me but after he’d done it a few times I realised it was a twitch!
On to the pictures…

I love this shot of Kathryn & Joe – they make such a striking couple.

This is probably my favourite shot of the day and would have been completely different had there been leaves on the trees. Shooting weddings out of season forces you to look for a different kind of drama in pictures.

Kathryn’s father recites Kathryn’s hopes and dreams for her furture, written when she was a child.

Congratulations Kathryn & Joe!
