Orchardleigh House and Estate is one of my all time favourite venues. Juliette & Nick decided on an ultra stylish black tie dress code for their winter wedding. Everyone in attendance bar none looked superb, some of the ladies dresses and winter coats were breath taking (and they needed those coats! It was freezing!)
Juliette’s choice of dress was a stunning Jenny Packham halter neck dress, she looked amazing.
Orchardleigh has a rare and beautiful thing – St Mary’s, a tiny island church which is grade 1 listed and dates back to the 13th century. Due to the churches remoteness, it has no electricity supply and even the organ has to be pumped by hand. In the cold and dead of winter, this certianly brought Juliette & Nick some challenges! They lit the inside with candles alone and the heating was a small wood burner by the entrance. It also brought me some challenges; my expertise in low level light was tested to the maximum! There was something so quintessentially English about singing carols by candle light in such a beautiful old church.

Nick and his best man put the finishing touches to their speeches.

Juliette lined the bridge to the church with these pretty lanterns.

These are my favourite ever signing the register pictures and they were also the darkest, that candle light is so romantic.

Nick & Juliette braved the cold for these shots – hopefully the mould wine and open fires inside soon warmed them up!

This victorian stately home certainly has the wow factor!

The burning wallets created by the magician certainly helped warm people up inside

I found measuring spoons inside my cracker – something every wedding photographer should have in their kit bag

The three waiters had been hired as a suprize by Juliette’s parents – they were absolutely brilliant and they guests loved them.

Juliette’s choice of candleabras worked so beautifully. I kept the lighting au natural – just ambient to preserve the wondeful atmosphere of the dimly lit room.

The final suprize for Nick & Juliette was a firework display from Juliette’s parents.
I then retired to the butlers quarters in preparation for my journey up to my New Years Eve wedding in the midlands!
Congratulations!
